Comfort One Another With These Words: The Rapture - What Does It Mean?

Image
One of the most awesome things that happened to me when I first became a believer in Christ was learning that I no longer needed to afraid of dying. Since middle childhood (7 or 8) I was so scared. So many questions about the after life and all the between part. I discovered that we can not earn salvation by any good works or anything we do. My heart wanted to know the absolute Truth about life and the meaning of it. It took a long time, but one day the blinds opened and the light bulb went on. At first I didn't have assurance about Heaven because every time I sinned, I felt so yucky and guilty that every opportunity on television or a meeting, I would invite Jesus into my heart repeatedly. That was until God blessed me by sending a godly Christian woman. She boldly came up to me in church (as if she knew) and asked "If you died today or tonight, do you know if you would go to Heaven?" My answer was an instant, "No!" She then told me she was having a new beli...

But Easter Is In The Bible! Why, If It Is A Pagan Word?

Image
As always, I agonizingly want to search out the history and real history and/or meaning of many festivals and holidays we grew up celebrating. In the last few years, we have felt similar to what Lea does in the video in a previous post (click here) and even after what we learned today, still concur that paganism is at the root of this particular time of year as it relates to Easter the event, bunnies, eggs and Ashtoreth. But not when people are honouring what Christ did for us during passover. Going by the passover dates would be the perfect way to follow the specific time period, of the resurrection of Jesus, because that is a celebration done every year, even to this day, ever since the Israelite's exodus out of Egypt. Well, Today as my husband and I discussed why only the King James Translation, uses the pagan word   Easter in  Acts 12:4.   Since the original Greek word used is  Pascha  , which from Greek to English has been translated to P...

Which Bible Translation Should I Read?

Image
Translation Matters? Have you ever cared about what Bible translation you read? When I first became a Christian I never even knew there were over two hundred Bible translations. My first Bible was what I later learned is called a "paraphrase," called the Good News version. Easy to understand and it even had simple illustrations. It was a gift from my dear Grandma when I turned thirteen. At the time, I was foolishly  Grade 12 Graduation and my dear Grandma - 1984   disappointed that I got a Bible for my birthday.  At thirteen, narcissistic was me! Uninterested in the meaning of life that year, busy trying to be cool, a tad narcissistic, busy smoking in the school yard, wearing my first pair of "La Cullotier" jeans, over plucking my eye brows, and using my trusty, handy dandy tape recorder, to record the 580 CKPR  top ten countdown, oh yes, and writing, "Anita loves Allan" on every surface I could find. Ashamedly, I ignored the precious gift of l...
