God Cares...

Image
Ever worry? As believers one of the most reassuring thing we need to learn is that our God is dependable. He cares for us in all ways. For myself, because I live with a physical disability, I often struggle with worrying. Worrying about something like,  how will I be able to hire a new Personal Care Attendant if the one I have resigns? How will I be able to get out of or into bed? Oh no, what if this so what if that? I am sure we all have certain areas in life that we may struggle with. If you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour then join us in reminding ourselves, that God cares for all of our needs. It may not always look the way we want it to, but we must trust that He knows us and knows just what we need and when we need it. We are called to cast our cares, burdens, anxieties onto Him, for He cares for us. We are told to pray without ceasing, to make our requests known to Him. Most of all, Thanking God in all situations, not just when things are going the way we want ...

Which Bible Translation Should I Read?

Image
Translation Matters? Have you ever cared about what Bible translation you read? When I first became a Christian I never even knew there were over two hundred Bible translations. My first Bible was what I later learned is called a "paraphrase," called the Good News version. Easy to understand and it even had simple illustrations. It was a gift from my dear Grandma when I turned thirteen. At the time, I was foolishly  Grade 12 Graduation and my dear Grandma - 1984   disappointed that I got a Bible for my birthday.  At thirteen, narcissistic was me! Uninterested in the meaning of life that year, busy trying to be cool, a tad narcissistic, busy smoking in the school yard, wearing my first pair of "La Cullotier" jeans, over plucking my eye brows, and using my trusty, handy dandy tape recorder, to record the 580 CKPR  top ten countdown, oh yes, and writing, "Anita loves Allan" on every surface I could find. Ashamedly, I ignored the precious gift of l...

Walking, Way Overrated...incase you are interested.

Image
When your brain bounces around like mine, (Did I mention that I was diagnosed with ADHD in my early fourties!) it takes effort to focus on one topic at a time. It is why I have more than one blog focused on various topics. Here, the Sure Hope Gazette is intended to be a place to provide hope for those who want to know why we exist on this earth, to provide resources and encouragement to fellow Christians. I thought perhaps it would be a good idea to share the other blogs for anyone who may want to know... Walking, Way Overrated - is a blog intended to encourage persons living with disabilities like my husband and I do. More specifically, anyone dealing with Spinal Muscular Atrophy or Spina Bifida Occulta and Scoliosis. As well,  be a place that  provides resources for each other, parents, siblings/relatives, and friends that may be helpful. And to share the lives of others who inspire and encourage us. Not Selling Anything Or Are They?

Image
Wares For Sale If you live in a house, it is quite likely that you have had visitors rap at your door who are selling something, be it energy, vacuums, or avon. As we know, sales people make their livelihood from what they sell, so as unnerving as it can be sometimes, it's understandable why they often talk to you as if they hear nothing you say, especially after you have told them, "no, not interested." In fact these days, be it by phone call or a home visit, I am not very polite because, even while they are speaking, I will firmly declare, "I am not interested, have a good day, BYE!" Hanging up the phone without their acknowledgement, in fact as they are speaking - it is a sure way to avoid being lured into whatever product/service it is they are offering. Door To Door But when you are face to face with a stranger, standing in your open doorway, (opened often, without being invited in, with one foot on your threshold) and they insist on continuing their...

Death Sentence

Image
You're going to die and so are we. Of course, unless Jesus returns and believers are translated (raptured) before we leave this earth physically, physical death will happen. Some Christian teachers apparently don't believe that the rapture will happen, but based on what the Bible says, it seems pretty clear that dead or alive, Christians have this to look forward to. However it plays out, we can trust God's Word and either way, it's all good. 1Cr 15:52 KJV - In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 1Th 4:16 KJV - For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one...

Know Your Enemy Video Series Part 2

Ephesians 5:11-14 says, "Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret.  But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, for the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said, "Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light." Battles Battles or Wars are most always about one side against another. One side is generally considered to be the enemy, the oppressor, or the villain if you will - usually guilty of injustice, unsavoury behaviour or just plain evil acts against others. History is riddled with infamous individuals , Attila the Hun , Maximillian Robeshpierre, Idi Amni, Pol Pot , Vlad the Impaler , Ivan The Terrible , Hitler , Stalin , Caligula , and Mao , just to name a few. All who stand against tyranny and wicked acts, are considered the "good" side or the, opponent (it depend...

Adrian Warnock Video/Interview re: Rob Bell's "Love Wins"

We would like to present this full hour  video interview/debate  with Bell and Adrian Warnock (Christian Author and Blogger) for your consideration.  Click  here  for the full interview. 1 Timothy 6:3-6 NLT - Some people may contradict our teaching, but these are the wholesome teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. These teachings promote a godly life. Anyone who teaches something different is arrogant and lacks understanding. Such a person has an unhealthy desire to quibble over the meaning of words. This stirs up arguments ending in jealousy, division, slander, and evil suspicions. These people always cause trouble. Their minds are corrupt, and they have turned their backs on the truth. To them, a show of godliness is just a way to become wealthy. Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. 1John 4:1-2 NLT  - Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit ...

Ahhh...Healing Balm

Image
2Cr 5:14-21 NLT - Whatever we do, it is because Christ's love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for everyone, we also believe that we have all died to the old life we used to live.  He died for everyone so that those who receive His New Life will no longer live to please themselves. Instead, they will live to please Christ, who died and was raised for them. So we have stopped evaluating others by what the world thinks about them. Once I mistakenly thought of Christ that way, as though He were merely a human being. How differently I think about Him now!   What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A New Life has begun!  All this newness of life is from God, who brought us back to himself through what Christ did. And God has given us the task of reconciling people to Him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, no longer counting ...

A Good Eggsample

Image
What is the Holy Spirit? The question really is, "Who, is the Holy Spirit?" One key belief to identify "true" Christianity or Christ Followers, would be the belief in something you may have heard before, called the Trinity or a Triune God or how about this, One God Who has three distinct persons.  1. God the Father 2. Jesus Christ (God the Father coming to earth in Human form - born of a virgin, fully man and fully God) 3. The Holy Spirit (God working in those Who believe in Christ - God invisible) I have heard this analogy to describe what the Triune Oneness of God means and it helped me. One Egg is one egg, but it has three distinct parts: 1. the shell 2. the white 3. the yolk More detailed information about the Holy Spirit, can be found here at the bottom of the page:   The Trinity

The Bible Itself

Image
The Christian Bible consists of, sixty six books, penned by fourty different authors (under the inspiration of God of course) make up the entire Christian Bible. ow can it be God's Word?: Technically, yes, the Bible was literally penned by men but, that is where the human aspect of the creation of the Bible ends. The men who put the words onto the manuscripts, were inspired directly by God's Holy Spirit. There are many evidences to back up the fact the Scriptures are God breathed and flawless. 2nd Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that:  "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." Some undeniable evidence that the Bible text comes from God's Hand is the mere fact that many prophecies throughout the old Testament about the coming of Christ and other events have all come true. And even now, ...
