Sure Hope Gazette

Over thirty years ago my husband and I (long before we were brought together by God) had  the scales fell off of our eyes and our hard hearts were softened with faith in Jesus Christ. Soon we will be posting our own testimonies here, but for now, as always, we want to share the many amazing testimonies from others out here online. What is a testimony you ask? When something happens to you, in this case that is life altering, miraculous, soul saving, healing, freeing, and more, you want others to hear what you experienced, witnessed ... Like the testimony given in the court of law - of a witness to help convict or free someone charged with a crime.  If you are already a believer in Jesus Christ, then hearing testimonies of how other lost souls were saved, you will be encouraged, maybe even challenged. It always helps to encourage one another with God's Word. As each day passes, we are closer to eternity. We can know why we are here and have assurance of salvation. Just wanted to share the following passages to remind myself and those who want to hear. It has been difficult keeping posted on current event these days. Not that is isn't always that way. But, if you know what has been happening worldwide over the last days, weeks and months, it is hard to watch and listen to everything. My husband and I have rest and peace because of what God's inerrant Word tells us. Without Him, we wouldn't be able to handle life on this earth the way things are. We are warned ahead of time in the Bible that it isn't going to get better. In other words things will worsen before all can be awesome. If you know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, you already know that even though we may be brought to tears watching the news, and even feel the temptation to be afraid of what might happen...God reminds you through His Words to not lose heart.  If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, then you most likely might be feeling the fear and dread that I once battled as a child on through the first twenty years of life. More than twenty years ago when I first became a Christian, I never gave October 31st a second thought. No, I didn't like the death themed decorations and costumes, but it was the time when cute children got to look even cuter in costumes. In fact, I did it as a child and continued trick or treating. Even after the city I lived in, when I was about 4 or so, had reports of poisoned kiss candies and razor blades in apples. And that was the late 60s, early 70s! Going out begging for candy, continued in our family and later we handed it out. It just meant for some, that you would get your pillow case of goodies x-rayed at the hospital or you would only go to the homes of those you knew. No problem. When I first believed, Halloween never changed for me. That wasn't until my old church got a new pastor, about a year after I first believed in Jesus Christ. When I first hear the word Hope, I don’t think about anything "sure" but about a possible Despair, by Anita Berglund brighter future. However, when it comes to our Sure Hope in Jesus Christ, the Bible really shows us how He is an absolute Hope, not wishful thinking or positive thoughts. We can rest assure, that He is all we need to live with peace in our hearts no matter what storms may rage around us. There was a time when I despaired because I had no hope. My life was supposed to end at the age of 20 due to a misdiagnosis of a disability. Terrified of what would come after death and sure that there had to be meaning to life, I let myself sink down low. But, thanks to praying, Christian family members, and the fact that God hears our heart's cry for Truth, He opened my eyes. I was never one to believe in anything just to make me feel better. You're going to die and so are we. Of course, unless Jesus returns and believers are translated (raptured) before we leave this earth physically, physical death will happen. Some Christian teachers apparently don't believe that the rapture will happen, but based on what the Bible says, it seems pretty clear that dead or alive, Christians have this to look forward to.
